Although the most common Dihydrosphingomyelin (DSM) molecular species in most tissue types have a d18:0 Sphinganine Long-Chain Base (LCB), some samples types contain a greater diversity of Long-Chain Bases. The most common DSM molecular species having several different Long-Chain Bases are given on this page and in the Master List. |

*NOTE: APCI-MS gives fragments at [M+45-2H]– in negative-ion mode, not [M+45]–, meaning that two hydrogens are lost from the formate adduct. This is perhaps due to formation of a cyclic structure in the adduct. |
